Public Lecture: Vladimir Putin at Valdai: Piotr Dutkiewicz reflects on Russia and meeting with the Russian President

The Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies will be hosting a lecture with Dr. Piotr Dutkiewicz on “Vladimir Putin at Valdai: Reflections on Russia and meeting with the Russian President.”

This lecture will reflect on Dr. Dutkiewicz’s latest impressions and reflections on Russia and its President Vladimir Putin from the 2018 Valdai Conference. This lecture will analyze Putin’s views, opinions, and strategies that he discussed at the conference. Dr. Dutkiewicz will also discuss his interactions with the Russian President.

Piotr Dutkiewicz is a Professor of Political Science and former Director of the Institute of European and Russian Studies. He was educated at Warsaw University (LLM) and the Russian Academy of Science, Moscow (Ph.D.). He was a Fellow of St. Peter’s and Nuffield Colleges in Oxford and a Visiting Professor at Berkeley University, Institute for International Relations (USA) and taught at Warsaw University in Poland (1977-1989) and Queen’s University (1990-1993) Kingston, Ontario.He is a member of the Valdai Club, a group of forty world renowned experts on Russia; in 2009 he received the Russian Federation’s Order of Friendship from President Dmitry Medvedev.

The lecture will begin at 7:00PM, and will then proceed into a Q and A portion. Light refreshments will be served.
