Drupal Frontend Developer and User Experience Designer – Transgender Media Portal Project at Carleton University

Full-time (40 hours/week)
July 1-July 31, 2019
Salary: Dependent on experience ($20-40/hr + benefits)
Must be an Ontario-based student (graduate or undergraduate) and comfortable working in English.

Our research team is building the Transgender Media Portal, an online, collaborative database and website that is meant to combine aspects of IMDb with Wikipedia to promote the work of trans, Two-Spirit, nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming filmmakers.

We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience in Drupal 8 frontend development and UX/UI design to collaborate with our lead developer over the summer.

Your primarily responsibilities would be:

  • Working with the Primary Investigator to understand the desired functionality of the database and website.
  • Creating “Views” for the database that allow users to search and browse films, filmmakers, festivals, and funding sources, including advanced search capabilities.
  • Making it intuitive for new contributors to add content to the database.
  • Analyzing and refining the design of the project website and ensuring that it is as accessible as possible to a wide range of potential users.
