$1,500 tax deductible cash award plus a $1,000 fund for eligible public commentary expenses

Provisional COVID-19 modification: Due to the impact of COVID-19, the two-year time period for this award has been extended to three years. Applicants and nominees are invited to outline the impact the pandemic has had on their contributions over the period in question in their cover letter.

The Public Commentary Excellence Award recognizes a significant contribution by a faculty member over a three year period ending in the nomination year in sharing expertise and research with the media or community, enhancing public understanding of the issues of the day, and stimulating dialogue and discourse among the public at large.  Examples of relevant activities may include op-eds or blog writing at the local, national or international level; media interviews; or community-based speaking engagements.
