On September 7th, 2024 graduate students took part in orientation field camp which included exploring areas of study in both physical and human geography. Although it was a little more damp than previous years, students learned alot about doing research and got to know the other students they would be going through the program with.

The first part of the tour was led by Professor Patricia Ballmingie at the Just Food Community Farm
Students were introduced to Chi Gardens located at the Just Food Farm.
Students were then introduced to Shelly Lambert of Nanabush Food Forests who discussed principles of permanent, restorative agriculture.
Professor Elyn Humphreys introduced students to the Mer Bleue Bog, near her study site where she researches the peatland carbon cycle.
PhD student Yasaman Amini talked about her research and expereince in the graduate program.
Students were then taken to Centretown and did a walking tour led by PhD students Monika Imeri and Sneha Sumanth.
