Monika Imeri
I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University. My doctoral research aims to assemble, document, and analyze lived experiences of development-led displacement to gain a more complex understanding of the political economy of housing and neighbourhood changing processes in Canada’s geopolitical capital.
I hold a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Middle East Technical University, where I graduated summa cum laude in City Planning. My Master’s research examined the factors behind the emergence of “retail urban voids” in Ankara, Turkey.
Aside from my dissertation research, I work with local community organizations and advocates for urban justice.
