Garden Club: Faculty & Staff Initiative
Healthy Workplace, Sustainability Carleton, and the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences are collaborating to bring a faculty and staff garden space to campus. We invite you to join the Garden Club initiative.
Garden Club offers opportunities to connect with colleagues across campus, share gardening tips and experiences, take part in hands-on outdoor activities, engage in sustainable practices, and support well-being through time spent in nature. All experience levels are welcome, from curious beginners to seasoned green thumbs.
The garden space is located by Paterson Hall, just south of the Academic Quad and will consist of six raised garden boxes and a wide variety of plants.
We are beyond excited about this cross-campus collaboration and look forward to seeing this space grow and flourish. Truly grateful for the Office of the Dean of Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences and their leadership with this initiatives, and hopeful that this will inspire additional spaces like it across campus in the coming years.

Planting Day was a SUCCESS!
Wednesday, June 17
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Planting Day. The event was a wonderful success, bringing members of our campus community together to plant, learn, and connect. A special thank you goes to the volunteer Master Gardener from the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton, who shared valuable knowledge and expertise throughout the afternoon.
Thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of all who participated, the garden space is looking fantastic and is ready to flourish in the weeks ahead. As the growing season progresses, the garden will serve as a welcoming space for staff, students, and visitors to enjoy, fostering connection, wellbeing, and a sense of community on campus.
We look forward to this cross-campus collaboration and are eager to see this space grow and flourish. Truly grateful for the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences and their leadership with this initiatives, and hopeful that this will inspire additional spaces like it across campus in the coming years.

July 2026 Garden Updates
The Staff & Faculty garden space flourished throughout the month of July. Fresh herbs, salad greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchinis – it’s wonderful to watch the space grow and change as we move through the summer season.
As a way to give back to the Carleton community, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is eager to share some of the produce grown in this garden space with Carleton students. They will be planning produce pick-up days throughout the month where students will be invited to stop by the space to pick fresh produce to take home and enjoy.
This initiative have provided such a wonderful opportunity for the Carleton community to connect on campus, spend time outdoors, and give back. We look forward to watching this space grow throughout the month of August!
