Suicide Prevention, De-Escalation and Crisis Support Training
This 90 minute workshop presented by the Mental Health, Addictions and Substance Use Health Unit with Ottawa Public Health is designed to equip participants with strategies to de-escalate potentially violent or escalating situations. Participants will explore topics of mental health and suicide prevention, suicide prevention strategies, including protective and risk factors, contagion, clusters and recognizing when to offer support. Self-care practices and community resources are also covered to give the knowledge and skills needed to promote mental wellness and prevent suicide effectively.
