Marion Dewar was a long-serving Ottawa mayor, NDP Member of Parliament and activist. Her commitment to improving the City of Ottawa was demonstrated through her support of non-profit housing, public transportation and the arts. A strong advocate for the rights of women, visible minorities, and lesbian and gay citizens, she also worked to bring 4,000 people fleeing Vietnam and South East Asia to Ottawa.
Prof. Gorham will be joined by Marion’s son Paul Dewar, former Member of Parliament.
This event is part of the Ottawa Writers Festival. The festival is a twice-annual event held to celebrate the diversity of the literary world. The festival features poetry performances, debates, fiction, developments in science and much more. In addition to the festival, the organization holds special events throughout the year.
