To set up your Carleton Email in Outlook for Windows:
- Launch Outlook
- Open Outlook from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
- If it’s the first time opening Outlook, a welcome screen will appear. Click Next.
- Add Account
- Select Yes when asked to set up Outlook with an email account.
- Click Next to proceed.
- Enter Email Details
- Type your full email address.
- Students: MC1username@cmail.carleton.ca
- Staff: MC1username@cunet.carleton.ca
- Click Connect.
- Type your full email address.
- Autodiscover Process
- Outlook will attempt to automatically detect server settings using Autodiscover.
- If successful, a password prompt will appear. Enter the password and click OK.
- MFA Authentication
- You will be prompted to authenticate using your configured method.
- Confirmation
- After successful authentication, Outlook will display a message:
“Congratulations! Your email account was successfully configured and is ready to use.” - Click Finish.

Alternate Access
If you experience issues setting up Outlook, webmail is a work around to access your emai. via browser:
- Go to https://outlook.office.com
- Log in with your full email address and password
- Authenticate via MFA
Server Name
If required, the Exchange server name is: outlook.office365.com
