Summer Term Wellness and Creating Balance
Summer term courses often move quickly. That can be especially demanding when you’re balancing competing demands such as wellness, part-time employment and volunteer opportunities.
We’ve put together some practical wellness tips to support your success during the summer term(s).
Normalize Stress—and Talk About It Early
A fast-paced term can increase anxiety, especially when routines change or when you’re managing disability-related stressors. Feeling overwhelmed does not mean you’re falling behind—it means you’re human. Reaching out early to counselling or our PMC counselling intern can help you process stress before it builds up and connect you to the right level of wellness support for your needs.
Build Small, Consistent Mental Health Check‑Ins
You don’t need big lifestyle changes to support your mental health.
Try short, regular check-ins such as:
- Pausing between classes to reset your nervous system
- Reflecting on how your energy or mood is shifting week to week
- Scheduling brief moments of rest without guilt
These small practices can reduce emotional exhaustion and help you stay connected to how you’re really doing, especially during an accelerated term.
