Group Work Alternatives and/or Assistance

Alternatives to Group Work

Allows the student to request an alternative way of completing a group-work requirement when participation in group work creates a disability-related barrier. The specific alternative is determined in consultation with the instructor and must continue to meet the relevant course learning outcomes. Depending on the course, this may involve completing the activity independently or using another format.

The student must contact the instructor as early as possible to discuss this accommodation.

Assistance with Group Formation and Role Assignment

Allows the student to request assistance from the instructor with joining a group and/or determining an appropriate role within the group when disability-related barriers make group formation or role assignment difficult. The goal is to support meaningful participation while maintaining the requirements and learning outcomes of the group activity.

The student must contact the instructor as early as possible to discuss this accommodation.
