PMC Mentor Volunteer Program (MVP)
The PMC’s Student Mentorship Volunteer Program (MVP) connects PMC veterans with PMC newbies to help make many aspects of university more approachable to students with disabilities. We aim to pair mentors and mentees together who share similar disabilities and/or areas of study.
If you are interested in participating in the program as either a mentor or a mentee please fill out and submit the form at the bottom of this page.
Criteria to Join the MVP program
PMC MVP Mentors must…
- …be a student registered with the Paul Menton Centre
- …have 2nd year standing or higher
- …be in good academic standing
- …feel comfortable sharing your first-hand experiences making Carleton University more accessible in relation to your disability.
- …feel comfortable sharing the learning strategies that have helped you over the course of your studies
- …be patient and empathetic while working with others
- …be willing to submit your resume and a short video or written statement of interest in upon request
PMC MVP Mentees must…
- …be a student registered with the Paul Menton Centre
Expectations and Commitment
- Opportunity to demonstrate skills in working effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Expand knowledge of Carleton University and community services and supports available
- Time Commitment:
- Can meet a maximum of once a week or minimum of once per month pending mentees’ preference and mentors’ availability
- Training for Mentors: four-hour online training video and additional University Mandated Training.
