Micro-credential courses
- When are Micro-credential courses offered?
Micro-credentials courses run on varying timelines based on the subject and length of the course. You can find when each course is offered in the course description in the Apprendo marketplace. You will need to make an account and log into Apprendo to see available courses.
- What are the benefits of registering for a Micro-credentials course?

Micro-credential courses are short skill-specific courses that are designed to last less than 12 weeks in length. They are designed to offer you:
- A way to prove your skills to an employer
- Designed to fill a need in the workforce
- An awesome addition to your resume or LinkedIn profile
Professional Development Course Offerings
- When are Professional Development courses offered?
Professional development courses are offered by non-academic units. Please visit the Apprendo marketplace to view current Professional Development offerings.
Starting in April 2024, the Accessibility Institute will be offering a hybrid Accessibility Certificate visit the Accessibility Institute training and certificates webpage to learn more.
Signing up and Logging In
- How do I make an Apprendo account and log in?
- Visit the Apprendo website.
- Click on the orange “Log In/Sign Up” button at the top right of the page.
- The welcome page will open. Click “Sign up” under the blue continue button.
- Enter your email address (if you have a Carleton email address, please use it to sign up)
Searching for Courses
- How do I search for a course in Apprendo?
- Visit the Apprendo website.
- Scroll through the Apprendo marketplace or search one of the dropdown menus. You can click an event to learn more about it.
- Note: The calendar icon next to an event indicates only the start date. Full schedule details will be covered in the detailed information section of the course offering.
- Scroll down the course information page to learn more.
- You can look through the tabs at the bottom: “About the Lecturer”, “What is needed for this event”, “Event Outline and Details”, “Policies and Information.”
Getting Registered
- How do I register for a course?
When you are on the homepage, you will see the available courses listed. You can click on each one to learn more about the course and enroll.
- When you select the course you want to enroll in, click the orange “Enroll” button at the top right corner of the screen.
- Note: You will be directed to the log in/sign up page if you are not logged in.
- Note: Courses are listed as “events”
Steps to Register:
- Confirm that you have read our policies by clicking the blue “Yes!” button.
- If the course is not already waitlisted, click the “Quantity” dropdown to select your seats, then click the blue “Continue with the checkout” button.
- You will receive a “Thank you for your order!” message when your transaction is successful. You will be emailed a receipt but can also click the “Download your receipt” button.
- Can I register for more than one offering at a time?

Currently, Apprendo does not have a ‘cart’ function that allows you to add more than one offering at the same time. If you choose to enroll in more than one course, you must enroll in each course separately.
- How do I find my course after registering?

Log in to your Apprendo account and click the orange “My Events” button at the top right.
- The course you are enrolled in will be listed under “My Events.”
- Click the blue button to the right of the event you want to access.
- Why am I receiving an “incorrect password or email” message?

There are two possible reasons for this.
- You have created an Apprendo account and have successfully logged in before. If this is the case, carefully re-type your email and password to ensure you have entered them correctly. If the problem persists, here are some other options:
- Refresh the page and try again.
- Clear your browser’s cache and try again.
- Try pasting https://carleton.apprendo.io In a different browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge)
- Try in ‘incognito’ or private mode
- On an alternative device (e.g., iPad, smartphone, laptop)
- If none of the above options work, please see how to reset your password below.
- You are a first time user have never logged in before. If this is the case, you must first create an account. See ‘How do I make an Apprendo account and log in at the FAQ above.
- What do I do if I forgot my password?

- Access the Apprendo home page and click the Log in / Sign up button.
- Click the ‘Forgot password?’ button.
- Enter the email address you used to create your Apprendo account.
- Check your inbox (and spam/junk folders) for an email with the subject ‘Reset your password‘.
- From the body of the email, follow the ‘click here’ link. Create a new password and enter it twice, ensuring you have not made any typos or mistakes.
- Write down your new password somewhere safe.
Accessing Course Material
- How do I access my weekly material for the course?
Please consult with your course instructor to determine where your course material will be made available.
- How do I download material/content?

Download options will vary based on the platform the instructor has opted to use. Please consult with your course instructor to determine how to download the course material.
Finances
- How much do Micro-credential courses cost?
The cost for each course varies. You can find the associated cost for each course in the course description.
- Can I get OSAP for these courses?

Micro-credentials courses are eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). Visit the OSAP website for a list of Micro-credential courses that are approved for funding.
- Can I get a tax receipt for these courses?

If your course is eligible, you may email registrar@carleton.ca to request a tax receipt for the course.
Withdrawing from a course
- How do I withdraw from a course?
- Log in to your Apprendo account, then click your name at the top right corner and choose “My Orders” from the dropdown menu.
- Locate the event you want to withdraw from and click “Request to withdraw” at the bottom right.
- Select the reason, then type your phone number and email. Click “Continue” then “Submit request.” Note: Your phone number and email are requested to help locate the account information.
