Services & Forms
The Registrar’s Office provides a number of services to students. These are some of the most common services requested:

Appeal of Grade
Students are encouraged to contact their instructors concerning questions about grades. If this does not resolve the matter, students may submit a formal appeal of grade to the Registrar’s Office

Change of Program Elements
Students may wish to change their major, minor, specialization/concentration, or they may wish to switch between an Honours degree to a 15-credit degree.

Chosen or Legal Name Change
Carleton University requires that individuals use their legal name on all legal records and official documents; however, we recognize that the first name you commonly go by may differ from your legal first name.

Defer an Exam
Students who encounter circumstances beyond their control may defer their final examination or take-home examination to write it at a later date.

Exemptions from International Tuition Fees
Undergraduate, Visiting, and Special students who believe they qualify for an exemption must submit an application and supporting documentation to the Registrar’s Office.

Exemption from Out of Province Tuition Fees
Students who wish to claim Ontario residency can apply for exemption from Out of Province fees by completing an ‘Out of Province Fee Exemption Form’ and providing the necessary supporting documentation.

Parental Leave Request
Carleton University recognizes that our students may require to take leave from their program due to parental responsibilities.

Petitions and Appeals
A petition is a formal request for accommodation with regard to the University’s regulations. You can submit a petition when circumstances beyond your control have impacted your ability to meet your academic obligations.

Releve 8 Form
