Professor Yunran Wei in the School of Math’s and Stats is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate student to join her research group as a research assistant during the 2023 Spring term. Our group focuses on the intersection of finance and technology, specifically in the areas of Quantitative Risk Management, Fintech, and Insurtech.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field. The student will be expected to have strong programming skills in at least one programming language. Knowledge in machine learning/deep learning/NLP/data analytics skills and a strong interest in finance/insurance will be helpful.
Students can apply for the Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) program and work full-time (can be replaced as a co-op term). The deadline for the USRA program application is Feb 15, 2023.
Student eligibility for the USRA program:
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, as of the application deadline (February 15, 2023)
- be currently registered in an undergraduate program, having completed all course requirements of at least the first year of university study (or two academic terms) of a bachelor’s degree
- hold a CGPA of at least “B-”, 70%
