SCS Openstack supports Windows 10 Instances. To connect to a Windows instance we recommend using a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client.

Software Required

  • An RDP Client: The Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client is preinstalled on Windows and is available for MacOS. For Linux, there are other free RDP clients to choose from.
  • Carleton VPN: Connecting to an openstack instance requires Carleton VPN.

Using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)

  1. Launch Carleton VPN and log in
  2. Launch the RDP software
  3. In the server field, type in the public IP address of the instance (the one starting with 134)
  4. Username: student
  5. Password: student
  6. Click yes if prompted to accept certificate

Remember to change your password to avoid unwanted access
