Using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)
Using Openstack Console
SCS Openstack supports Windows 10 Instances. To connect to a Windows instance we recommend using a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client.
Software Required
- An RDP Client: The Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client is preinstalled on Windows and is available for MacOS. For Linux, there are other free RDP clients to choose from.
- Carleton VPN: Connecting to an openstack instance requires Carleton VPN.
Using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)
- Launch Carleton VPN and log in
- Launch the RDP software
- In the server field, type in the public IP address of the instance (the one starting with 134)
- Username: student
- Password: student
- Click yes if prompted to accept certificate
Remember to change your password to avoid unwanted access
Using Openstack Console
- Launch Carleton VPN and log in
- Go to the Carleton Openstack website and log in with your Carleton MC1 account
- In the instances tab, find your instance’s name in the list and click it
- Go to the console tab
- Log in to the instance with:
- Username: student
- Password: student
