The Senior Management Committee met on Jan. 25 and the following policies were reviewed and approved:

Advertising Policy

  • The policy now outlines that advertising must now meet the official standards set in the University’s Brand Guidelines, not the University’s Visual Identity Guidelines.
  • The policy now applies to all parties using graphic elements, in addition to Carleton University logos and brand identifiers.

Posting Policy

  • In most cases, postings are restricted to the promotion of campus-related activities.
  • It is now recommended that posters do not exceed 11×14 inches.
  • Postings can be up for a maximum of four weeks. After which time they must be removed.
  • The university urges campus and community groups to consider non-paper promotion alternatives.
  • All requests for alterations, repairs, maintenance or physical changes to University facilities (including bulletin boards) must be submitted to Facilities Management and Planning, through a Service Request by email at fmp.service.centre@carleton.ca.
  • Individuals/groups are responsible for removing their own postings.

Visual Identity Policy

  • This policy is now referred to as the Brand Identity Policy.
  • The “visual identifiers” are now referred to as “brand identity elements” and include digital representations, in addition to graphic and textual representations.
  • A new brand identity for Carleton was approved in 2021. Carleton’s brand guidelines can be found at https://carleton.ca/brand/.

Carleton Top5 Policy

  • This policy was previously recognized as Today@Carleton (TAC).
  • This policy covers Carleton’s Top 5 newsletter, which is regularly distributed to staff and faculty.

Web Calendar Submission Policy

  • This policy now details how events must be submitted, organized, and listed on the web.
  • This policy now outlines that it is the responsibility of the event organizer to submit, manage, edit and update events.
