As Assistant University Secretary, Kathy serves as liaison between Carleton’s Senate and senior management as well as administers the business of the Senate.

A trained ethnomusicologist with 10 years of post-secondary teaching experience, Kathy has over eight years of experience in project and event management in both the private and non-profit sectors.  Most recently, Kathy was engaged as the Project Liaison Officer for the 75th Anniversary Celebrations at Carleton. In that role, she helped develop and implement the Signature Event Plan for an entire year of celebrations in 2017.  She also assisted Carleton’s Department of University Advancement in planning and executing a number of high-profile events, including the public launch of the Collaborate Campaign, in November 2015.

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Victoria, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from McGill University and a PhD in Ethnomusicology from Brown University.

In addition to her many years of experience as a pianist, Kathy has also studied and performed on the Sundanese kacapi, Cambodian tro khmer, and on various instruments of the Balinese gamelan and gender wayang ensembles.
