Legal Exclusions: The Individual, Community, and the State
The Department of Law and Legal Studies is pleased to invite you to attend the 9th Annual Legal Studies Graduate Conference!
The theme, Legal Exclusions, concerns a range of exclusions found within the interactions between the individual, the community and the state. Who and what is left out of the law is indicative of the overall relationship between law and its subjects. How does the effect of exclusion arise in law, and how does the exclusion reflect the integrity of the system? Are certain exclusions intentional, incidental, or systemic? How do social, political, cultural, and economic issues find expression in the ways people, groups, and communities are excluded? The interdisciplinary nature of legal exceptions and repressions are created as a result of law’s boundaries and limits.
