Below is a listing of academic and financial dates and deadlines. Please visit the respective office’s website for more detailed information on any of the dates and deadlines listed below. To facilitate with this, the financial related dates and deadlines have been linked to the Student Accounts dates and deadlines pages.

NOTE: The University Calendar is the University’s official source for academic dates. We make every effort to adhere to the published dates and will communicate any changes in a timely fashion. In the event of a date change, please be sure to consult the University Calendar for the most current listing.

Summer 2024

March 21, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for Carleton University degree students (graduate and undergraduate).

March 25, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for Carleton University special students

  • Registration for University of Ottawa undergraduate exchange students begins.

  • Summer Term Payment Deadline

May 1, 2024

  • Last day for receipt of applications for undergraduate degree program transfers for the summer term.

  • Graduate students who have not electronically submitted their final thesis copy to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs will not be eligible to graduate in spring 2024 and must register for the summer 2024 term.

  • Last day for registration and course changes (including auditing) for full summer courses.

  • Last day to withdraw from early summer courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal).

  • Last day for summative tests or examinations, or formative tests or examinations totaling more than 15% of the final grade for early summer courses before the official examination period.

  • Last day of early summer classes.

  • Last day for handing in term assignments, subject to any earlier course deadline.

  • No classes or examinations take place.

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for new first year undergraduate students and students admitted from CEGEP.

July 9-12, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens for registration for returning undergraduate students and new and returning graduate students.

August 5, 2024

  • Carleton Central opens at 8:30 a.m. for registration for Special Students and Visiting Undergraduates on Letter of Permission.

August 13, 2024

  • Fall term registration for University of Ottawa undergraduate exchange students opens at 8:30 a.m.

August 25, 2024

  • Fall payment deadline.

August 28, 2024

  • Deadline for course outlines to be made available to students registered in full fall, early fall and fall/winter term courses.

August 31, 2024

  • Last day for receipt of applications from potential November graduates.

August 31 -
September 1, 2024

  • Residence move in weekend.

September 2, 2024

  • Statutory holiday. University closed.

September 3, 2024

  • Academic orientation (undergraduate and graduate).

  • Orientation for Teaching Assistants.

  • Class and laboratory preparations, departmental introductions for students and other academic preparation activities will be held.
