Hello, and welcome to the first installment of the HTA Supervisor’s blog! Full disclosure: I’ve never blogged before, and it’s all something of an experiment for me. But believe it or not, I’m not doing it just because I like the sound of my own voice. I have a couple of concrete objectives for this blog:

• First and foremost, I want an easily accessible place where students in my program, History and Theory of Architecture, can go to get information on activities we’ve planned. We’ve got quite a bit lined up – field trips, movie screenings, guest speakers – and this will be the place to find out what’s coming up. I’ll be posting listings of these events here at the beginning of the term, and discussing each one in more detail as the date draws near.

• I also want to use this as a place where I can raise questions, or just think out loud, about ideas that come up in class, thoughts about particular buildings or architecture in general, or issues about teaching and curriculum. The topics will range widely, but will always have some relevance to the built environment and how we teach and study it. Comments will be welcome – I would love to turn this space into a dialogue.

Stay tuned!
