Doris Sung’s addresses issues surrounding the lack of visibility of women artists, feminist, and gender-related themes in Chinese modern and contemporary art. It gives a brief overview of gender roles in socialist China and focuses on women’s art production in the national and transnational art worlds in the post-socialist era (c. 1980s to the present).
