Carleton University currently has over 100 researchers within the Faculty of Engineering and Design (Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electronics, Systems and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Information Technology) and the Faculty of Science (Computer Science) who are actively engaged in various aspects of advanced Information and Communications Technology (ICT) applications, including connected and autonomous vehicles.
Our fields of expertise include:
- Signal processing (analog/digital, continuous and discrete) with application to audio, speech, image, video, wireless communication;
- Wireless communication systems and networks (e.g., vehicular networks, DSRC, 4G LTE, 5G, mission-critical communications);
- Distributed computing (e.g., real-time systems, cloud and fog computing);
- Software engineering (e.g., model driven software development, verification and validation, operating systems, simulation systems);
- Robotics and control (e.g., haptics, navigation and exploration, optimization, adaptation, cooperation, mechatronics, linear and non-linear control);
- Artificial intelligence, analytics and optimization; and
- Cybersecurity (e.g., network security, authentication, intrusion detection, design for security).
