On December 10th, 2012 the EU will officially receive the Nobel Peace Prize for their contributions to the advancement of peace in Europe. The decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the EU came as a surprise to many observers, especially given the Euro zone financial crisis.
Achim Hurrelmann, CES Associate Director, Carleton University, produced a commentary for the Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue project entitled Nobel Peace Prize for the European Union, which outlines the rationale and context of awarding the EU the Nobel Peace Prize.
