Abstract: Over the summer, new concerns have been raised about the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Once again, there are doubts as to whether CETA will ever see the light of day, owing to the Brexit vote as well as the initiation of the agreement’s ratification process by the EU. This webinar seeks to explain (1) why these new concerns have arisen and (2) why CETA is nevertheless likely to be ratified and enter into force as expected sometime in 2017.

Biography: Owing to his training and experience in business, economics and international relations, Dr. Leblond’s expertise concerns questions relating to global economic governance and international and comparative political economy. He is Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa, Public and International Affairs, and currently a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, ON.

CES Webinars are open to the public and attendees are welcome to join this event online or in person at the MacOdrum Library, Discovery Centre, Room 482. Attendance online presupposes some minimal equipment requirements for access and viewing; instructions for login to access the webinar will be emailed separately.
