Canada-Europe Business Lecture 2011

Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA):

Implications for the EU, Canada and the Canadian Provinces

As negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union continue, the Centre for European Studies at Carleton University (EU Centre of Excellence) is organizing a roundtable on possible implications of the agreement for both Canada and Europe. The agreement could have significant effects on many sectors of the Canadian economy through trade and enhanced collaboration in investment, labour mobility, regulatory cooperation, environment, and science and technology. EU and Canadian representatives have also sought agreement on issues such as government procurement, intellectual property and competition policy. This roundtable will provide an opportunity to explore possible implications for the EU, Canada and the Canadian provinces that CETA could have in some of these areas.
