April 7, 2025 at 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM

Location:Senate Room, 608, 6th floor Pigiarvik (ᐱᒋᐊᕐᕕᒃ)

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the Eastern European and Transatlantic Network (EETN) are very pleased to co-host the lecture, “The Rediscovery of Great Power Politics”, with Professor Sven Biscop.

About the lecture:

How Putin, Xi, and now Trump deal with Europe and Canada is not dissimilar. Great powers do as great powers do. Is there any space left for a strategy based on multilateralism and cooperation, or must Europeans and Canadians accept the rule of great power politics and embrace geopolitical and geoeconomic rivalry in order to survive?

About the presenter:

Prof. Dr. Sven Biscop lectures at Ghent University and leads the Europe in the World Programme at the Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations in Brussels. He is a member of the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences of Belgium and an honorary fellow of the European Security and Defence College of the EU.

Registration is required to attend this hybrid event in-person or online. Please register by Friday, April 4, at the EETN event page here.
