EU Issues Conference for High School Students 2024

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the Centre for European Studies is hosting a one-day conference for high school students at Carleton University. The conference will focus on important topics and issues relating to the European Union (EU).

Here is a list of the topics:

  • Memory Laws and Memory Politics
  • A Brief Introduction to the War in Ukraine
  • Populist Movements in Times of Crisis
  • Understanding the EU Enlargement
  • Through Naked Eyes: A Tale of Plastics, the Environment and Precautionary Principle
  • A Unity of Diverse Members: Europe on an Integration Crossroad of Market vs Political Integration

Students will have the opportunity to engage with a keynote speaker in the morning and attend a choice of three interactive workshops throughout the day presented by graduate students at Carleton University. Students studying history, politics, world issues, economics, law, social sciences, and related courses are encouraged to join the conference.
