M365 Tools

The Centre of Excellence promotes and supports the use of the following Microsoft products to increase collaboration at the University

Microsoft 365

Document editing (Word), spreadsheet creation (Excel), presentation authoring (PowerPoint), and more on desktop or through the web.

Copilot Chat

A generative artificial intelligence service, provided through a chat interface. Get answers to questions, analyze documents, and generate text and images.

Outlook

Access your email, calendar, tasks, and contacts in one place. Outlook is the University’s email system, accessible on the desktop or through the web.

Teams

Collaboration and chat software with file sharing from anywhere. Scale your communications from one-on-one chats, to whole departments.

OneDrive

File storage and syncing allowing safe storage of all your important files, and those shared with you across devices, all in one service. Collaborate on the same document with coworkers or classmates.

Planner

A web service that allows project tracking. Create deliverables and tasks to track your project’s milestones. Display progress using a grid with hierarchy, or through a Kanban board.

Shifts

An app available in Teams to coordinate job shifts, and time-off requests such as vacations, sick days, or appointment leave. Staff can make requests that get quickly sent to their supervisor or manager.

Bookings

Share you or your team’s calendar with the public to allow easy appointment scheduling.

Forms

Create surveys to gather all kinds of information using Forms. Allows creation of branching so that certain choices lead to different types of questions. Responses are secured using Carleton’s data protections.

To Do

Take a hold of your day and see what needs to be done in a friendly application. To Do displays tasks across Outlook, such as flagged emails, Planner, tasks assigned to you, and one-off tasks.
