Research: Dr. Lavoie investigates the low concentrations of glutathione found in cells from premature newborns, especially males. He has found that photoprotected parenteral nutrition prevents elevated levels of urinary peroxides and hypertriglyceridemia in children. Through mass spectrometry, he has also found a new vitamin C degradation pathway which leads to the formation of ascorbylperoxide.
