Professor Samuels-Wortley was invited by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security to present her research on Systemic Racism in Canadian Policing. In the session she called for increased police transparency and accountability, the significance of collecting sufficient race-based data, and the need to include racialized youth voices to facilitate meaningful change. She also called for a commitment from police services to work with researchers — including researchers of colour — who are willing to make critical inquiries into law enforcement practices.
