Course Plans for MA Students

Please note these are only suggested course plans. It is the student’s responsibility to select their courses and manage their schedule. Students must also consult with the Graduate Calendar and the Public Class Schedule to see course offerings each term.

Please note that if you haven’t taken the courses below (or equivalent) with a B+ or higher, they will be included as a requirement in your offer of admission to the Extended MA in Economics program (EMA) .

Important Notes on Course Plans

  1. The grade in brackets is the minimum required grade to qualify for subsequent courses and for meeting the program completion requirements.
  2. The fall 2026 and winter 2027 course offerings have not been determined. This course plan is based on when courses are being offered in 2025-2026.
  3. M.A ECON courses are NOT offered in the summer and no official fees are due.
  4. For variations of this course plan with fewer additional ECON 4000-level courses, please contact economics@carleton.ca.
