Biography

Charlie was born in Whitehorse, Yukon, but raised here in Ottawa. He chose Carleton, originally for political science, in large part because he was not yet ready to leave his hometown. First year economics with Dr. Nick Rowe convinced him to take on economics as a second major, and by the end of his second year, he had switched to the Bachelor of Economics and reduced his study of political science to a minor. He cannot speak highly enough of the faculty in the Department – in particular, he would like to thank Dr. Raul Razo-Garcia for his leadership during the Bank of Canada’s Governor’s Challenge and Dr. Maya Papineau-Koritar for her supervision of my CUROP project on tax rebate expenditure.

What will you pursue next?

I am honoured to be pursuing a Master of Science in Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science next year. I hope to continue my graduate studies thereafter. My interests within economics are diverse, but I’m particularly enthusiastic about expanding my understanding of applied microeconometrics and market-oriented policymaking.
