Biography

Eric Stewart is from Edmonton, Alberta where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics from MacEwan University. His undergraduate studies work consisted of several research projects related to environmental economics and climate change including an internship with the Alberta Ministry of Environment and Parks in Edmonton. In summer 2019 Eric moved to Ottawa and began his Master’s degree program in Economics at Carleton University. During his time in the program Eric successfully completed 2 Co-op terms working with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) as an Economist/Analyst in the Model Development and Quantitative Research (MDQR) division of the Economic Analysis Directorate (EAD), which reports to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Branch (SPB). MDQR is responsible for the development, maintenance, and application of various economic models for economic and environmental policy in support of EAD’s mandate. Eric is now graduating from the Economics M.A. program with a specialization in Financial Economics and will continue to work full time as a Junior Economist with MDQR through ECCC’s professional development program. His hopes are to continue grow his economic knowledge and skills while contributing to important environmental policy and model development through ECCC.

Future Pursuits

As mentioned in my Biography, I am already working full time as a Junior Economist at Environment and Climate Change Canada and am progressing through their Professional Development Program. My goal is to continue growing my economic and modeling skills as I progress in this position. At this time, I do not have any plans to pursue a PHD.
