Biography
Jude was born and raised in Amman, Jordan and moved to Canada when she was 19- shortly after her type 1 diabetes diagnosis. It was a very difficult time since she had a lot to get used to! However, it was also very rewarding, since she found her true passion in economics, a second home in Ottawa, and lifelong friends at school and work. Throughout her degree, and thanks to the wonderful professors that inspired and taught her, she has also discovered her passion for econometrics and data science. She hopes that, as time goes on, she can better adapt to the emerging technological tools that are becoming increasingly important for economic analysis. She is particularly passionate about labor and development economics since she believes it is our moral obligation to improve conditions in developing countries. She hopes to one day return to the refugee camps she visited during her volunteer work and help improve their economic conditions.
What will you pursue next?
I found it very difficult to decide what to do next, since there are so many choices! For the time being, I would like to do a master’s degree in economics- but who knows what the future holds? I would rather be robust to changing conditions than plan out a 5-year static trajectory!
