Overview: The Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace (CCAA) is one of the partners selected by the Federal Government to deliver the Student Work-Integrated Learning Program (SWILP).  Working with employers and PSE institutions in the aviation and aerospace sector CCAA will administer wage subsidies to hire co-op students.

Available funding

  • Employers may be eligible to receive a wage subsidy of 50% (up to $5000) to hire a student and may be eligible to receive 70% (up to $7000) if they hire under-represented groups including women in STEM, Indigenous students, persons with disabilities, recent immigrants and first year students
  • Ontario employers may also be eligible for a tax credit of up to $3000 for the Co-operative Education Tax Credit
  • Employers receiving other federal funding to hire the student will not be eligible to also receive SWILP funding

Eligible Employers

  • Employers involved in the aero and aviation Industry
  • Focus on occupations in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and business

Eligible students

  • Full-time students currently registered in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) or business program at a Canadian post-secondary education (PSE) institution
  •  Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or hold refugee status
  • Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations

How to Apply

  • Employers contact CCAA directly to apply for the funding
  • Employers are welcome to post their co-op positions on Carleton University’s CUHire for students in eligible programs to apply.  (Note:  Approval of the wage subsidy must be secured before an offer is made to the student, if the position is dependent upon receipt of the subsidy).
