I read with great sadness the news about Natalie last week. It seems so tragically young, and of course, after many months and years of suffering. It just doesn’t seem right. No doubt that all of you in DGES will greatly feel this loss. Natalie was a great presence not only in your Department but at Carleton.  I have wonderful memories of some of the events you’ve held (such as the corn boil) for faculty and students, and the warm welcome Natalie extended to everyone. My sincere condolences to all of you.
Catherine Khordoc, Professor and Deputy Provost (Academic Operations and Planning)

“Natalie was a valued member of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Admin team. She was always very helpful with her knowledge, and never failed to make us laugh with her great sense of humour. I am so sorry that the DGES is now without her, especially your administrative team who worked with her every day. She will surely be sorely missed by all of you, and by your faculty, and students. My condolences go out to all of you, and to her family and friends. We will miss her!”
Lana Keon, Institute Administrator, Feminist Institute of Social Transformation

“I’m deeply saddened to hear of Natalie’s passing. She was a vibrant, dedicated, supportive colleague. I have many fond memories, and she will be greatly missed.”
Gita Ljubicic, Professor

“I am crushed with this sad news. Natalie was such a wonderful person and a delight to work with at Carleton. My heartfelt sympathy to her family and many friends.
Marianne Keyes, Retired, FASS staff

“This is very tough news, but I am glad her pain and suffering are over. Hopefully, her and Judy are reunited again!”
Michael Pisaric, Professor

“Natalie was such a big part of building the collegial environment that makes DGES such a friendly and welcoming department. She was a leader among the professional staff across FASS and leaves a strong imprint on the Faculty.”
Dr. Pauline Rankin, Provost and Vice-President (Academic)

What a heartbreaking news… My deepest condolences to her family and all DGES friends and colleagues. Nat was indeed at the heart of the department.”
Dominique Blain

I’m so very sorry for your/our collective loss. Glad to have known Natalie and to call her a friend.
Tarmo K Remmel, Professor

I’m very sorry to hear this sad news. I knew Natalie mainly in her role as graduate administrator. In that role she was always very supportive of grad students – approachable, helpful, and a great sense of humour.
Glenn Brauen, Associate Professor

I have known NATALIE for ever at DGES! She was a positive person, always ready and willing to assist. I have more than 20 years of memory regarding her goodness. May NATALIE’s wonderful soul rest in perfect peace. My deepfelt condolences to her family.
Andy Kusi-Appiah, Adjunct Professor

That is absolutely terrible news and I am so sorry that she is no longer with us.  She was an amazing person and a HUGE asset to the University.  Geography is a better place for her having been a member of that department/community/family and I know she will be terribly missed by so many people, within the department but throughout the Carleton community as a whole.
Sandy Herbert, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Provost, Carleton University
