Kim Kaskiw has been offering private singing instruction and voice coaching for more than 20 years. Studying music at Humber College, Kim was a Music Scholarship Award Winner. She continued her study of vocal technique under outstanding coaches including Gloria Ferrar, Ingmar Korius and legendary jazz singer Sheila Jordan. She has also studied under renowned vocalist, Kurt Elling.To remain at the cutting edge of vocal health instruction, Kim has studied speech pathology with an otolaryngologist, and attended master classes on vocal fold pathology and the singing voice with Dr. Robert Thayer Sataloff (MD, DMA). Kim also has been a guest lecturer on the singing voice for the Speech-Language Pathology program of the University of Ottawa.
As a singing instructor, she has coached Juno Award winners and professional singers, as well as beginners. Kim has taught hundreds of singers, teachers, politicians, journalists and others experiencing voice challenges. Bringing her own experience in performing into her classes, her coaching sessions are both informative and fun. Kim puts her expressive mezzo-soprano voice through its paces with the Kim Kaskiw Sextet, an Ottawa-based jazz ensemble. She has extensive experience singing jazz, Latin/Jazz music, R & B, pop, and classical and modern choral music.
