Carleton students prepare to “Lap the Gats” for Parkinson’s Research
A team of Carleton cyclists and volunteers are preparing to ride and take part in the “Lap the Gats” event to raise money for Parkinson’s research on May 31st. The Carleton students, who are mostly studying neuroscience, call themselves the Lesioned Amygdalas, because they will fearlessly climb the Gatineau hills as many times as they can!
This is a new event, and riders are seeking pledges to raise funds for the Parkinson Research Consortium (PRC). During the event, riders will be faced with the challenge of doing as many laps as they can in 3 hours over a 21km loop through the Gatineau Park. Not only will the event raise money and awareness for the PRC, it will also connect cyclists who live with Parkinson’s.
The cyclists riding for the Carleton team will be Olivier Gilbert, Annie Jones, Andrew DeChamplain, Arielle Weir, and Kyla Vanderzwet. If you would like to pledge any of these riders, you can search their names and submit pledges here.
If you are interested in riding in the event, we encourage you to visit www.lapthegats.org for more information!
