Brandon Morphet

Career Path: Psychotherapy

Biography:

Hello! My name is Brandon Morphet, and I completed a BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in psychology. Next, I completed a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality at Saint Paul university. Currently, I am a practicing registered psychotherapist working out of Barrhaven, supporting individual’s and Couple’s in their therapeutic journey.

Having a background in Neuroscience has helped me connect my clients to evidenced based research that I explain with as little jargon as possible during session to encourage positive changes for clients in my care. I find myself frequently reviewing material from my undergrad to explain to my client’s how they’re brain process presenting issues such as stress, trauma, depression, addiction, and neurodivergence. During my master’s I was able to learn about polyvagal theory, PACT, EMDR which are neuroscience-based frameworks in psychotherapy that I am continuously learning more about.

On a personal note, some of my interests include quality time with friends and family, connecting with nature on the golf course and playing soccer and hockey every chance I get.

Advice for 4th Year Undergrads:

If I could offer one piece of advice to undergraduate students in Neuroscience it would be to not get lost in researching what you could do and instead get out there and do it. Volunteer, study abroad, work in a lab, etc. Gaining hands-on experience is a great way to learn how you want your future to play out.
