Dr. John Stead received his PhD in Genetics from the University of Leicester, UK in 2000. He completed two postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Leicester in 2002 and at the Mental Health Institute, University of Michigan in 2004. Prior to becoming an associate professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Carleton University, he was an assistant / associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University from 2004 to 2010.
Eligible to supervise at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Scholarly Work & Research Interests:
John Stead’s previous research covers various areas of genetics and genomics, including genetic analysis of susceptibility to diabetes, genetic and genomic studies of depression in humans, and studying animal models of stress-related disease. His current research involves application of bioinformatics tools to understand genomic responses to environmental toxins.
