Rayah Mansour

Biography:

Hi there! My name is Rayah Mansour and I am a 2020 Carleton grad! I was born in Montreal but moved to the lower Hudson Valley, New York where I grew up. I came to Carleton in 2015 to pursue a B.Sc. in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in Psychology. The past 5 years presented many challenges; however, my strong ties to the Carleton community became my support system and enhanced my university experience in so many ways. I enjoyed volunteering for various clubs such as the Muslim Student Association, Alternative Spring Break program, and First-Year Connections at the Student Experience Office. Also, I gained research experience as an intern at the Nathan S. Klein Institute of Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg, New York. A few of our research projects consisted of inducing stress in maternal rats to analyze mother-infant interactions and analyzing the effects of antidepressants on motivation in a mouse model.

While I enjoyed my time in the lab and gained valuable experience, I decided to make a switch to public health. Starting this fall, I will pursue a Master of Public Health in Behavioral Sciences and Health Promotion from New York Medical College. I would love to have a career where I could help address health issues and understand the health behaviors of specific communities to promote a healthier lifestyle.Bio
