Heather Martel

Undergraduate Administrator

Heather will be away December 24th thru January 9th inclusive, returning to work on Monday, January 12th, 2026. In her absence, you can continue to email neuroscience@carleton.ca for assistance.

Heather has been in Carleton Neuroscience since 2013. As a student advocate, system navigatrix, solver of puzzles, and translator of jargon, she counsels students on NEUR course registration, program requirements, and weaving post-undergraduate goals into their academic experience.

For things like career planning, Co-op, volunteering, and research opportunities, you can refer to the respective Neuro Hub modules and other offices/resources first to optimize your advising session.

We are the life-force power of the universe, with manual dexterity and two cognitive minds. Right here, right now, we can step into the consciousness of our right hemisphere, where we are the life-force power of the 50 trillion beautiful molecular geniuses that make up our form, at one with all that is. Or, we can choose to step into the consciousness of our left hemisphere, where we become a single individual, a solid. Separate from the flow, separate from each other.

Which would you choose? Which do you choose? And when? I believe that the more time we spend choosing to run the deep inner-peace circuitry of our right hemispheres, the more peace we will project into the world, and the more peaceful our planet will be.”
