Biography

I completed my BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in psychology and went onto pursue medical school at the University of Toronto.

I am super interested in research and have made sure to explore this interest during my time as an undergraduate student at Carleton. In the summer after my first year, I worked with Dr. Kim Matheson to look at the contribution of pet ownership to mental wellbeing. In the summer of my second year, I worked with Dr. Alfonso Abizaid to explore how ghrelin, an orexigenic hormone, modulates motivated behaviour to feed. Research is something I’ll definitely continue to be a part of as I move forward with my education. Outside of school and research, I used to be a mentor at the Science Student Success Centre, was involved in running the first year neuroscience peer-led study sessions and also got involved in other opportunities that centered mostly around teaching and mentorship (which are things that I am extremely extremely passionate about!!). In my spare time, I absolutely enjoy reading, baking and (especially now!) spending time outdoors.

Advice for Current Students

Challenge yourself to push boundaries and step outside of your comfort zone. In my experience, the opportunities that have allowed me to grow the most as a person and that I learned from the most were those that I initially felt unsure about. It’s through these experiences that you will grow, learn and also amaze yourself in the process!
