Chris is a PhD student at Carleton since 2023. He studies hierarchical power dynamics in contemporary society, with an emphasis on corporate control over technological production.

His current research investigates the paradox that society can be ‘too productive’ and that ‘overproduction’ is the cause of periodic economic crises. Specifically, he examines this puzzle in the context of the global automobile manufacturing sector. Underpinning his research is the question of how ideas shape distributional struggles between large corporate owners, workers, and society at large.

Chris has an MA from York University, where he examined how large corporate-government coalitions engineer global microchip ‘shortages’ to generate higher profits.

Chris collects analog technologies (books and records), and enjoys cooking, gardening and swimming.
