The Institute of Political Economy’s 20th Annual Graduate Conference will be held February 15th, 2019, 8:30 a.m., Room 2017 Dunton Tower
Celebrating 20 years of annual grad conferences, the Institute invites you to this year’s conference, which strives to create a welcoming space for students, faculty, and community members to develop their intellectual work. All are welcome to attend.
This year’s conference features presentations by 19 students from across campus and beyond. Please check our conference schedule for topics and times.
This year’s keynote speaker is Political Economy alumna Emma Lui. Emma has worked for many years as an activist in the water justice movement. Emma’s talk, entitled “Come Hell or High Water: The Water Justice Movement’s Fight Against Commodification and Extractivism,” will look at the privatization of water, fracking, drinking water advisories in First Nations, and the gutting of water protections in the Harper and Trudeau eras.
