How has the labour movement responded to permanent austerity and authoritarianism? The shift from consent toward coercion in securing the subordination of labour became part of the broader turn to neoliberal globalization through the 1990s and into the 2000s.  The new 4th edition of the classic Consent to Coercion updates the situation from its previous edition in light of recent tensions and turns across the country.
