“Looking back to think forward:Revising Political Economy Concepts for a world in need of explanations”
Contemporary global transformations—the fracturing of the post-Cold War order, accelerating ecological breakdown, the ascendance of authoritarian politics, and the unraveling of neoliberal globalization—present themselves as overwhelming in their velocity and interconnection.
This workshop asks what critical scholarship can contribute beyond diagnosis—how our work might not only interpret the present crisis but participate in imagining and enabling transformative responses. The goal is to collectively think how key concepts from political economy help us move forward in researching and understanding current global challenges.
We invite graduate students and faculty to join a space of collective engagement and reflection to build a collective vocabulary and explanatory armoire. To connect ideas with political imaginaries and to revisit old concepts with new lenses.
Please come prepared to talk, engage, and learn from one another.
