Chris Roberts is the National Director of the Social and Economic Policy Department of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). Canada’s largest labour central, the CLC is the umbrella organization for 55 affiliated Canadian and international unions, as well as 12 provincial and territorial federations of labour, and over 100 regional labour councils.

At the CLC, Chris is responsible for research and policy advice in the areas of macroeconomic policy, labour-market policy and regulation (including labour law and employment standards), social security programs, and pensions and investments. He also participates in various federal consultation and advisory committees, including those convened by the Canada Industrial Relations Board, the Social Security Tribunal of Canada, the Canada Employment Insurance Commission, and the federal Labour Program.

He has co-authored and edited several publications in the area of pensions and investments, including The Contradictions of Pension Fund Capitalism (LERA 2017).

Chris obtained a Ph.D. in Political Science from York University in 2002 and subsequently completed a post-doctoral fellowship at McMaster University. He lives and works in Ottawa.
