Be Safe, Not Sorry – Say NO to distracted driving

August 10, 2012

Between 2006 and 2008 there were approximately 5,500 collisions in the city of Ottawa caused by distracted driving, which resulted in almost 2000 injuries and 8 deaths.

Be Safe, Not Sorry when you’re driving.

Here are some tips to assist you focusing on the road while you drive:

–          Set playlists on your MP3 player or CD’s so you’re not distracted trying to find your favorite song

–          Put distractions like reading material, grooming products etc in the truck so you’re not tempted

–          Only use your phone when you are safely parked. Have the passenger take the call or let it go to voicemail.

–          Don’t text, e-mail, tweet or facebook while you drive. Your facebook status can wait till you arrive at your destination.

A driver who takes their eyes off the road for two seconds doubles their odds of being involved in a collision.
